Changing men? An intersectional exploration of masculinity and social change in Cyprus
Overview
Identifying the need for research among diverse groups of men and contexts that have been excluded from Western centers of academic knowledge production, this project employs the life-course approach to explore the contextual, interactional and situational factors that may cultivate, or indeed restrict, innovative social conduct and normative understandings of masculinity among men in Cyprus.Methodology
The project relies on life-course interviews with men at different intersections of socio-economic position and age to reach a complex and multi layered analysis of how men and masculinities may change over biographical time, across roles and spaces at given points in time. Further, it locates men’s biographies in the broader socio-cultural and historic context to analyse them in relation to broader social structures.
The project is funded by the University of Cyprus, internal funding scheme (2024-2026).
